Recently I picked up the RG35XX SP, a mouthful of a name. It’s one in a line of 8 systems put out by Anbernic, a company that has been making handheld Emulators since 2017. I’ve owned on other device by them, the Rg351 V, in which V stands for Vertical. I bought my family three of those Gameboy like systems and we enjoyed them. I was attracted the the V because of the vertical form factor, the ability to play up to Ps1 games and the different styles that were offered. Pictured below is the wood grain system, a very unique looking device.
However, it is a pretty big device and not easily carried around in a pocket. Last year, Anbernic released another in their line of RG35XX devices with a clamshell form factor. I loved my old Gameboy SP so I was interested. After watching and reading some reviews, I decided to get it. I went with the opaque transparent case to remind me of devices from the 90’s.
I’ve had this device for awhile and have been playing around with the stock Operating System. For anyone that wants to just boot up a device and play, it works pretty well. The system comes with around 64 gigs of ROM files for various retro systems, the ability to change themes, the ability to set up Retro Achivements and a few other features. All the games included are playable and they range fron the NES era to the Dreamcast era. The Dreamcast is suprisingly playble despite not having an analog stick, since the system comes with a way to mimic the analog stick on a d-pad.

More on my adventures with device soon.
